How to design a feng shui study room

The most important part in feng shui study room layout is desk placement. You should place it in a command position. Consider choosing wall colours from metal element like white or grey. Keep in mind about maintaining overall balance so all four elements work well together.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng shui comes from a Chinese practice, originated in ancient China, claiming to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment.

Feng Shui study relationships between people and their environments.

It focuses on you and your habitat and how your environment affects the way you think and act. It is thought to affect everything from the layout of your home, the placement of the furniture in each room, the placement of mirrors, and the presence of houseplants.

All of these seemingly aesthetic choices all come together to create an environment that will improve your productivity, your energy, and even your mental health.

What are aspects of Feng Shui?

Important aspects of feng shui are your energy, floor plan, and balance.

The flow of energy in your home is so important to creating a great feng shui. To create the correct flow of energy, you need to incorporate this into your floor plan and furniture design.

Floor plan

The furniture in your floor plan should be aligned to help you determine the optimal energy flow for your home or office space. It should align your floor plan with specific areas of your life.

The different areas of your home should reflect different areas of your live. Creating one aesthetic for your entire house may not be the right choice for you or an effective way of creating a great feng shui in your home.

The last important aspect of designing a feng shui environment is incorporating balance. This is meant to help you keep all the elements in check.  This can be achieved by incorporating all of the elements into your home design.

Such as adding a water fountain to represent water, wind chimes can be linked to air. Anything with flames such as candles represent fire, and anything rock or clay represents earth. Keeping these in your home is thought to create a great balance in your home design.

Why is Designing a Feng Shui Study Room Important?

We have stressed that the feng shui of your home is important and can change your mood, energy and productivity.

If we consider study room as one of the most important rooms regarding productivity, It is important to create a great feng shui feeling.

Having the perfect place to study is a crucial step in your academic process. If you are uncomfortable in the room you are studying in, then you are going to get very little done and will have to spend twice the time studying the same materials.

A lot of times, we decorate rooms to fit the aesthetic of our home or try to lay out the floorplan of a room to maximize space, but this is not a great method to get a good feng shui.

Often times, when we have a room laid out in a way that fits the rest of our home or to optimize space, then it can actually be negatively affecting your productivity.

What are the best ways to design a feng shui study room?

According to Feng shui desk and overall study room position is slightly different compared to what I believe is the best layout. My own design of home office or study room would have an ideal desk position in front of the window to get as much natural light as possible. With Feng Shui, ideal or commanding desk placement is a bit different. Let’s see how.

How to position desk when feng shui in mind?

There are some rules designing the study area, where you want your desk to be placed in a so-called commanding position. I will name what to avoid in a room and add an appropriate image next to each “don’t” so you can visualize the overall design and desk placement better.

Do Not Sit with Your Back facing the Door or in line with the entrance

To optimize your studying and productivity, you need to create a balanced and healthy environment to do work in. You should not set up your study room so that your study desk is positioned to be facing the wall with your back to the door or be in line with the room door.

Do Not Sit with Your Back facing the Door or in line with the entrance

There are a few reasons for this.

  1. First, if you are fully emerged in your work and fully focused on what is in front of you, it could startle you if someone came in without you seeing, taking your attention away from your work.
  2. Not being able to see the door is thought to potentially cause you to miss out on a business opportunity that might walk by. You are limiting your options by “closing” yourself off from your door.

Do Not Place Your Study Desk to Face the Wall

You should never place your desk in a position where it is directly facing the wall. Facing a wall feels extremely depressing.

Do Not Place Your Study Desk to Face the Wall

The whole idea of feng shui is linking your productivity to your mood and energy.

The study table should not be placed in front of a wall because when you are feeling depressed or uninspired, your productivity and concentration will drop.

Do Not Place Your Study Desk in Front of a Window

It seems like a natural choice to put your desk in front of a window, especially since we said it is bad to put it directly in front of a wall. Like facing a wall affects your productivity, so does facing out a window.

Do Not Place Your Study Desk in Front of a Window.

There are a few reasons for this as well.

  1. Looking out a window can cut your productivity and take your attention away from the tasks you have planned.
  2. The energy importance of feng shui believes that looking out of a window will allow your personal energy to escape.

What is correct Feng shui desk placement?

With the right desk placement, you should achieve a so-called Feng Shui command position.

To Achieve correct feng shui desk placement or command position, place yourself to see your room entrance. You need to have a solid wall behind, don’t be on the line with doors, and don’t look towards the window.

To Achieve correct feng shui desk placement or command position, place yourself to see your room entrance.

This position will give you the power to deal with whatever obstacle comes in front of you or in your life. With this placement, you will be surrounded with a lot of energy, concentration, and motivation to achieve your planned projects easier.

Now that we have covered the extremely important aspect of feng shui which is your table placement in your study or home office area, it is time to talk about other furniture.

Placing Bookshelf

Bookshelf represents our knowledge and creativity. According to Feng Shui cardinal directions, west side of particular room is best to embrace creativity. If you have possibly placing it there, your energy will grow.

When we placed our bookshelf in best Possible position, we need to pay attention to two important facebook principles or rules.

Decluttering important aspect of feng shui. If you are trying to add in all of the various items on your shelves, this could make it feel crowded.

It is better to prioritize simplicity and add only important and nessessary items without making it feel cluttered.

Keep it Clean

To maximize energy flow and achieve harmonious space, you need to dust your bookshelf on regular basis.

In Feng Shui it’s all about energy, joy and happiness. You can not bring this feelings, when your furniture is dirty.

Best Home Office Colors to keep you focus

For Home office I would consider choosing color palette from metal element which is all about clarity and efficiency. Choose grey or white color to accomplish this and you should get more efficient at what you do.

How to Create Balance in Study area?

Important aspect of creating a perfect feng shui in your home or study room is focusing on balance.

Main feng shui tip when creating a balance is to incorporate ideally all of four main elements (Earth, Wind, Fire and Water) in to your place or room without some being overwhelmed.

You will pick one main element. For home office that would be most certainly metal. As we mentioned above , metal element will bring clarity and efficiency to your room.

When we have our main element selected, we try to incorporate other elements. We do them in a way that they complement each other and definitely not compete against.
